Mrs. Jane Geraldine Niblett, age 91, of Rome, Georgia, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026, at her home.
Mrs. Niblett was born on November 11, 1934, in Rome, Georgia, to the late John Alexander Joyce and Oweda Jane LeMaster Joyce. She lived most of her life in Rome and was a proud graduate of Rome High School, Class of 1952.
One of the greatest blessings of her life was her marriage to Gene Harlan Niblett on November 30, 1951. They shared nearly 68 years of marriage before his passing on July 17, 2018. For the first time in 8 years, they will once again be together, reunited beyond the pearly gates.
Mrs. Niblett was a woman of many talents whose creativity and work ethic were evident in everything she did. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed sewing clothing, quilting, embroidery, and creating beautiful handmade items for her family and friends. She also found great joy in gardening, canning vegetables, and making her own fruit and vegetable juices. A true jack-of-all-trades, she possessed a remarkable ability to learn, create, and provide for those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Wayne Niblett; her brother, John Russell Joyce; and her stepmother, Cecil Mincey Joyce.
Mrs. Niblett is survived by her children: David Harlan (Tricia) Niblett Dahlonega, GA, Tammy Jane (Jeffrey) Richardson, Cedar Bluff, AL, and her brother-in-law, Wayne (Pat) Niblett of Rome, GA. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, including Katie Niblett Van Zant, Matthew Niblett, Jonathan Niblett, Brittany Richardson Little, Brooke Richardson Rogers, great-grandchildren C.J. Van Zant, Will Van Zant, Caroline Van Zant, Evan McKinney, Wesley Niblett, James Niblett, Olivia Niblett, Savannah Little, Madison Little, and a baby boy due in October, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Dudley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165.
Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen: Matthew Niblett, Jonathan Niblett, Cody Little, Todd Rogers, C.J. Van Zant, and Will Van Zant.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Jessica Little, Alana Watson, Gabby Brooks, and April Gonzalez for the love, care, and compassion they provided to Mrs. Niblett. Your kindness brought comfort not only to her, but to all who loved her. We are forever grateful for the dignity, respect, and tenderness you showed throughout her journey.
