Janet Dover Obituary

In Loving Memory of Janet Diane Pugh Dover
May 23, 1957 – November 25, 2025

Janet Diane Pugh Dover, of Cave Spring, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. She was born in Bartow County on May 23, 1957, to the late Christine Pugh, a daughter shaped by the red clay, the creek-side breezes, and the steady, sacred rhythms of country life.

In addition to her mother, Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willard J. Dover; her granddaughters, Hailley Elizabeth Wolski and Brianna Nicole Dover; her brothers, Joe Pugh, Harold Pugh, and James Pugh; and her sisters, Betty Jo Thompson and Margrete Waits.

Diane is survived by her son, Terry Dover; her daughters, Melissa Dempsey and Vanessa Johnson and her husband, AJ. She leaves behind grandchildren who knew her as sweetness and home: Savannah Dover, Elijah Wolski, Alexis Patel, Maci James, Austin Dover, and Tinsley Johnson. Her great-grandchildren: Jesse Gator, Jonah James, Elizabeth Johnson, Oakley Johnson, Cassidy Nicole Perez, Gabriela Perez, Liliana Perez, and David Perez, Jr. They all brought her joy that danced right up to her eyes. She also leaves behind her sister, Martha Swindle, along with several nieces and nephews.

Diane was of the Baptist faith, and she carried her faith the way some folks carry a quilt stitched together piece by piece, warmed by every prayer, every hardship, every blessing. She had eight great-grandchildren, and she loved every minute she was given with them.
Diane loved fishing, and loved sewing quilts and pillows, drawing beauty out of scraps the way she drew joy from everyday moments. She loved the outdoors and camping, but above all, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren more than anything else on this earth.

Services to honor Diane’s life will be held at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel on Friday, November 28, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM, with Don Jenkins and Shae Satterfield officiating.

Pallbearers escorting Diane to her final resting place at Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery will be Jason, Daryll, Westley, Ronald, and Gabe. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry, Austin, Jesse, and Elijah.
