Jeannette Hall Elliott “Jeanne” Jenkins peacefully transitioned to her eternal rest on Saturday, November 8th, at a local hospital following an extended illness. Born on September 28, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, Jeanne spent most of her life in Rome, Georgia. She attended Shorter College and graduated from West Rome High School in 1960, where she was honored by her classmates as Homecoming Queen.
Jeanne enjoyed spending time with her beloved poodle, Jodie, and found joy in cooking and gardening. Above all, she treasured her family. Nothing made her happier than cheering on her sons and grandchildren at their sporting events.
A member of First Baptist Church of Rome, Jeanne was a dedicated hairdresser who worked in many salons throughout her career. She took great pride in her craft. Her final position before retirement was serving as the in-house hairdresser at Fifth Avenue Healthcare, a role she cherished. She loved interacting with the residents and making them feel truly beautiful.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Benjamin Snook Elliott and Gladys Hall Elliott; her father, Benjamin Hall Elliott; her mother, Dorothy Kinlaw Elliott McCamy; and her brother, William Robert Elliott.
She is survived by her brother, Benjamin Kinlaw Elliott (Dawn); her sons, Micheal Jeffrey “Jeff” Jenkins (Chrystal) and Christopher Elliott “Chris” Jenkins (Chrisha); her four cherished grandchildren, Brandon Jenkins (Madison), Lexington Jenkins, Addison Jenkins, and Boston Jenkins; and her recently welcomed first great-grandchild, Lennox Jenkins.
In keeping with her wishes, Jeanne will be cremated, and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rome/Floyd Humane Society in Jeanne’s honor.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
