In Loving Memory of Jon Ryan McCoy
April 11, 1978 – June 8, 2025
On a warm Sunday in early June, in the town of Rome, Georgia, Jon Ryan McCoy, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and grandson, departed this world at the age of forty-seven. He was born on April 11, 1978, in Augusta, Georgia.
Jon, made a life threaded through with fierce devotion. He loved quietly but deeply, the way the Georgia pines love the sky. He built his days around the laughter of his children and the nearness of his wife, Sara E. McCoy, who walked with him in life’s tangled, tender journey.
Together, they have five children: Ryan, Marcus, Loukus, Charity, and Grace McCoy. Each of them bearing in some way the trace of their father’s heart. His grandchildren: Prynce, Oliver, and Ivy, were the twinkle in his eye, the fresh bloom that carried on his legacy. Also his dear nieces and nephews Kira, Jacob and Sophia Henderson.
Jon’s love of family was wide as a country road and just as full of memory. His grandmother, Louise Anderson, was. His brothers-in-law, Tim and Matt Cheek, and his sister-in-law, Ashley Clark, shared in the ordinary sacredness of kin.
Jon now joins hismother-in-law, Carol Clark, his and Sara's three angels, in eternal rest, as his steps fold into those who went on before him.
Though Jon’s years were not many, his presence wove itself into the fabric of those he loved, and his absence will not be a quiet one. He will be missed in ways both spoken and unsaid; in the hush of twilight, in the echoes of laughter at family suppers, in the dreams of his children and grandchildren.
In accordance with his wishes, Jon will be cremated. A service to honor his life will be held at a later time when those who loved him can gather to remember the man he was and the love he gave so freely.
The family is in the gentle care of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, who are honored to oversee the final arrangements for Jon’s journey home.
