Judy Carol Pledger

It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the passing of Judy Carol Pledger of Cave Spring, Georgia, on December 14, 2023, at the age of 72. Born in Centre, Alabama, on August 18, 1951, to James Earl Pledger and Dorothy Nell Doegg, Judy was a cherished soul whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.

Predeceased by her loving parents, James and Dorothy Pledger; her brother, Larry Earl Pledger; and her sister, Wanda Jane Pledger, Judy's memory will be forever held in the hearts of her beloved family. She leaves behind her devoted son, Bradley Clifford Benefield; her daughter, Stacey Renae Justice; her adoring grandchildren, Jesse Dewayne Greenleaf (Nera), Dillan Tyler Greenleaf (Harley), Savannah Jade Almond (Dalton); her brother, Phillip Wayne Pledger and her loving great grandchildren Lorelai, Remington, Olivia and Odin.

Judy's life was a tribute to the power of unconditional love and selfless dedication. Choosing the noble career of a homemaker, she instilled in her family the values of compassion, resilience, and the joy of simple pleasures. Her culinary skills were unmatched, bringing warmth and delight to many family gatherings with her signature dishes. Her eye for beauty transformed her home into a sanctuary of comfort and joy, a reflection of her loving spirit.

An ardent animal lover, Judy's compassion knew no bounds, extending to her cherished dogs, who were her constant companions. Her love for reading not only nourished her soul but made her an engaging conversationalist, always ready to share her insights on a multitude of topics. Judy's favorite season was Christmas, a time when her gift for hospitality and her love for family and friends shone brightest.

Judy’s treasured loved ones invite friends and family to join them in celebrating Judy's life. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM. Both will take place at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165. Interment will follow at Old Nazareth Cemetery in Cherokee County, AL.

Brad Benefield, Dalton Almond, Jesse Greenleaf, and Dillan Greenleaf will serve as pallbearers. Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
