January 21, 1951 – August 16, 2025
Julia May Harris Bowman, 74, of Centre, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025. She was born on January 21, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Edward Maxwell Harris and Maleata May Baum Harris.
Julia was a woman of quiet strength and deep devotion to her family and faith. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Junior Bowman, who was the anchor of her life, and by her brother, Karl Harris, whose memory she carried close to her heart.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Shannon Simeral and Jennifer Cox, who will carry forward her wisdom and love. Her grandchildren, Lisamarie Pereira, Jade Cagle, JT, Michael Rourke, and Gavin Rourke who will always remember her warmth, laughter, and the special place she held in their lives. Julia is also survived by her brother, Eddie Harris, and sisters, Maleata Ann Carter, Florence Kay Ferguson, and Cathie Stahler, with whom she shared lifelong bonds of love and family.
Julia worked for many years as an operator with Central Bell Phone Company, where her steady voice and kindness touched many. She was a faithful member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, where her presence in the pews was a constant reminder of her simple, steadfast faith.
Those who knew Julia will remember her not for grand gestures, but for the consistency of her love, her gentle spirit, and the way she made others feel seen and cared for. Her absence will be felt deeply in the countless quiet ways she gave of herself.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM, where her family and friends will gather to honor her life and lay her to rest.
