In Loving Memory of Karen Louise Barker Patino
July 1, 1968 – February 15, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Karen Louise Barker Patino, who left this world too soon on February 15, 2024, at the age of 55. A lifelong resident of Rome, Georgia, Karen was born to the late James Clemson “JC” Barker and Helen Joyce Sealock Dodd Barker on July 1, 1968. Her departure has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Karen’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, dedication, and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures. She was a beacon of kindness and warmth, always ready with a comforting word or a helping hand. Karen’s love for her family was boundless, and she dedicated herself to creating a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Marcelo Patino, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love. Her legacy will also live on through her adoring sons, Benjamin Cisneros and Ayden Patino, who were the light of her life and her pride and joy. Karen is also survived by her brothers, Gary “Peanut” Hamilton, Jake Barker, and Bobby Barker; and her sisters, Helen Faye Kirby and Patricia Barker Tate (Jamie), whose bonds of sibling love and friendship were unbreakable.
In addition to her parents, Karen was greeted in heaven by her sister, Judy Sullins, whose presence is sorely missed.
Karen’s faith was an essential part of her life, guiding her through life’s challenges and joys with grace and resilience. An avid fan of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), she also found joy in the excitement and drama of the ring, a passion she shared with friends and family. An excellent cook, Karen’s kitchen was the heart of her home, where she expressed her love through the meals she prepared with care and affection.
The family warmly invites those who were touched by Karen’s life to join them in a celebration of her legacy. The viewing and service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, located at 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165. Visitation will take place from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the service commencing at 7:00 PM.
Karen’s life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of faith, and the beauty of family. As we gather to remember her, let us hold dear the lessons she taught us through her example: to cherish every moment, to love unconditionally, and to face life’s challenges with courage and grace. Karen will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved.
