Kirk Edwards Obituary

In Loving Remembrance of Kirk Allen Edwards

December 22, 1953 – April 8, 2025

From the quiet hills of Rome, Georgia, in the waning days of December’s light, there came into this world a soul of gentle strength and bright spirit, Kirk Allen Edwards. Born on December 22, 1953, to the late Charlie M. and Flora Dover Edwards, Kirk began a life journey marked by steadfast love, humble service, and an enduring devotion to both his faith and family. On the morning of April 8, 2025, at the age of seventy-one, his earthly sojourn came to its peaceful end in Silver Creek, Georgia, where his spirit was called home.

Kirk’s life was a song composed of humble joys, radiant kindness, and the sacred chorus of unconditional love. He was the beloved father of his sons, Nathaniel Edwards (Erica) and Bobby Caudill, and his daughters, Sierra Townsend (Jimmy)  and Katrina Basher; (Gary JR) each of whom carry forward his legacy in their own hearts and homes. To his grandchildren, Levi Sunday, Ryan Sunday, Timothy Turnipseed, Gabriel Ely, Jaxson Crowe, Olivia Chambers, Elijah Chambers, Azlyn Kitchens, and Jaylon Kitchens, he was not only a grandfather but a wellspring of warmth, laughter, and unwavering affection. His great-grandchildren, Natalie Turnipseed and Tinsley, knew the embrace of a man who delighted in every small miracle of life.

Among the living who mourn his passing and rejoice in his memory are his cherished brother, Danny Edwards, (Betty) and a host of nieces and nephews whose lives were touched by his light. Preceding him into the arms of eternity are his parents, as well as his dear brothers, Larry Edwards, Charlie Edwards and Stanley Edwards.

Kirk’s path was one of service; first, as a taxi driver, and later as a man of grit and resolve in the scrap-hauling trade. Yet his labors were never confined to occupation alone; his hands found purpose on the farm, and his heart found joy wherever his family gathered. A true son of the South, Kirk took delight in life’s simple pleasures: a long ride through familiar roads, a visit to Wal-Mart where smiles were exchanged as easily as coins, and moments of sacred fellowship at The Way of the Cross Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member, and also at Coosa Valley Praise and Worship, where he often found comfort in community.

Faith was his compass and prayer, his constant companion. Known for his ready smile and boundless hugs, Kirk never let a soul pass by without a sincere “I love you.” He bore within him the heart of a child. He was playful, kind, and pure, and his soul was rooted deeply in the Word. He did not merely speak of God’s love; he lived it. To know Kirk was to feel seen, known, and loved in a way that transcended words.

The family invites all who knew and cherished him to gather for visitation on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel. A service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Way of the Cross Baptist Church, where Bobby Garner will read the obituary. His final resting place will be Lindale Cemetery.

Pallbearers bearing him with honor and love to his place of rest will be Levi Sunday, Timothy Turnipseed, Gabriel Ely, Jaxon Crowe, Bobby Caudill, Ethan Martin, Richard Reynolds, and Jaylon Kitchens.

In the spirit of solemn gratitude and tender remembrance, we give thanks for the life of Kirk Allen Edwards. He will always be known as a man of grace, joy, and unyielding love.
