We solemnly bid adieu to Laura Ellen Smith Hedrick, 70, of Cedartown, Georgia who left a gaping chasm in the hearts of all who loved her on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Born on October 24, 1953, in Rome, Georgia, she was a treasured daughter of the late James Dudley Smith and Mary Latináe Sugg Smith.

Laura is survived by her devoted partner of thirteen years, Steve Trimm. She was a beloved mother to her son, Blake Maravic, and her daughter, Sarah Duncan-Teal, (Rexford Tyler Teal). Her legacy continues through her treasured grandchildren: Aaron Hedrick, Sophia Hedrick, Wyatt McClung, Lee Teal, and Trent Teal. Laura is also remembered by her brother, Jim Smith, and her sister, Mary Janet Collins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her ex-husband, Bruce Duncan.

Laura had a zest for life and a multitude of passions that enriched the lives of those around her. She was an exceptional cook, often sharing her culinary creations with family and friends. Her green thumb was evident in her vibrant garden, a sanctuary she meticulously tended to. Laura's love for animals was profound, and her home was always filled with the joyful presence of her furry companions. Laura dedicated her professional life to helping others. Her compassion and commitment to her work left a lasting impact on countless lives.

A talented artist, Laura's creative spirit shone through her various artistic endeavors. She was an avid traveler, exploring the world with an insatiable curiosity and a love for new experiences. Her thirst for knowledge was unquenchable, and she was a lifelong learner who kept abreast of current events with keen interest, often engaging in lively discussions about the latest news.

The family will have Graveside service at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens on Friday, August 8, 2024 at 3:00PM. Chaplain Alan Fuller will be officiating.

Laura's memory will be forever cherished by all who knew her and couldn’t help but adore her.
