Lucy Mae Cook Harrison, age 94, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by the love of her family.
Lucy lived a full and hardworking life, holding many occupations throughout the years. She worked in the cotton mill, served as a radio dispatcher with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, worked as a clerk for the City of Waleska, and later as a CNA in nursing homes in Canton and Jasper, Georgia.
She was a woman of many talents and found joy in sewing, quilting, crocheting, and expressing her creativity through oil painting.
She lived in several communities throughout her life, including Buffington in Canton, Waleska, Georgia, Cedar Creek, Missouri, and Fackler, Alabama, before making Rome, Georgia her home. Lucy was born in Ball Ground, Georgia, to Roy and Lucy Harrelson Cook on August 27, 1931. She was a lifelong and faithful member of Shoal Creek Primitive Baptist Church in the Clayton Community.
Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray Harrison; her parents; her brothers, John Cook and Verner Cook; and her sisters, Cola Walker, Pearla Turner, Marylee Smith, Docia Jenkins, and Millie Russell.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her family. Survivors include her daughters, Polly Bell Merritt, Pamela Bell Flowers (Fred) of Rome, Georgia, and Barbara Bell Looney (Larry) of Concord, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Jamie (Eric) Lurie, Jody (Diane) Champion, Keith (Tosha) Flowers, Stephen (Marla) Flowers, Robbie Redmond (Starla), Janina (Chris) Tilley, and Patrick (Joanna) Looney; ten great-grandchildren, Logan Snyder, Ryan Flowers, Kaitlyn Flowers, Kelsey Champion, Kaleb Champion, Emma, Elin, and Sam Tilley, Ethan Cole, and Noah Shirey; stepchildren, Benny Harrison (Donna), Terry Harrison, Bradley Harrison (Cindy), and Rebecca Westbrook (David); along with ten step-grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law, Shelby Millsap and Martha O’Neal.
There will be two Funeral Services and Visitations, that will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026. First Visitation will be at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel from 10:00am until Funeral Service at 11:00am with Pastor Greg Montgomery officiating. Second Visitation at Shoal Creek Primitive Baptist Church located at 174 McGhee Dr. Canton, GA 30114, at 1:30pm followed by the Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m with Elder Glenn Ray officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Flowers, Stephen Flowers, Robby Redmond, Patrick Looney, Chris Tilley, and Ryan Flowers.
