Mark Edward Mathis, 56, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on February 12, 2026.
Mark was born on April 14, 1969, in Dalton, Georgia. He was a hardworking and dedicated electrician who took great pride in his trade and in providing for his family. Known for his strong work ethic, Mark truly loved what he did and earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.
Above all else, Mark loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He enjoyed camping, playing the guitar, singing, and making people laugh. His sense of humor and ability to bring joy to others will be remembered by everyone who knew him.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Mathis; his sons, Cody Mathis of Dalton, Georgia, Hunter Spezio, and Jake Spezio; his daughter, Sarah Mathis of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee; his grandson, Jasyn Mathis of Murray County; his mother, Judy Hannah of Dalton, Georgia; his father, Richard Hannah of Dalton, Georgia; and his sisters, Barbie Brooks (Mark) of Texas and Terri Lynn Stanley (Jeff) of East Ellijay, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Mathis; and his grandparents, Horace and Barbara Williams, and Bertie and Ed Hightower.
Mark will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
