Marlana Eva Ann Rape, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the age of forty-five. Born on August 18, 1980, in Summerville, Georgia, she was the cherished daughter of Dorothy Rape and the late Richard Lamar Rape, Sr.
Marlana’s life began in Floyd County, though her home in later years was in Walker County. She was a gentle spirit, remembered for the sweetness that seemed to radiate naturally from her. There was an innocence in her laughter, a lightness in her smile, and a tenderness that drew people close. She loved the simple pleasures, the ones that mark a soul as attuned to joy: the comfort of sweet tea on a warm day, the lilt of music filling the air, and the familiar gesture of twirling her hair when lost in thought. These small things, seemingly ordinary, stitched together the essence of her being and became her quiet signature in the hearts of those who loved her.
She is survived by her devoted mother, Dorothy, and by her brothers, Joseph, Johnathan, and Richard Rape, along with her sister, Gloria Rape. To her nieces and nephews; Travis, Haley, Grace, Zach, Emma, and Anna, she was more than an aunt. She was a soft place to land, a warm presence that reminded them they were loved. She is preceded in death by her father.
Though her life was brief, Marlana’s gentle soul left its impression like the lingering fragrance of flowers after spring has passed. She was dearly loved, and she leaves behind a family who will carry her memory as tenderly as one carries a song.
Services to honor Marlana’s life will be held at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. The visitation will take place at 11:00 AM and the funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Pastor Denny Smith will officiate. Marlana’s nephews, Zach and Travis Rape will be the pallbearers escorting her to her final resting place in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
