+Mrs. Martha Joy Nicholson Cabe, age 87, when to be with the Lord on Saturday October 22, 2016, at her residence.
Martha Joy was born on November 6, 1928 to the late Edward Roscoe Nicholson and Gladys Mae Russell Nicholson. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Earnest Cabe, three sons and daughter-in-laws; Wesley Cabe (Linda); Douglas Cabe (Lynne); and Russell Cabe; a sister, Mildred (Millie) Nicholson; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cabe was preceded in death by four brothers; Ernest Nicholson, Griffin (Buck) Nicholson, Billy Joe Nicholson, and Charles Nicholson.
A dedicated mother and homemaker, Martha Joy enjoyed preparing meals and celebrating life with her family and friends. Martha was a happy person. She thrived on conversation, visits, and activities with others. For a few brief periods, she worked outside the home including Celanese Manufacturing, Tri-County Library, and The Clothes Horse.
Mrs. Cabe had an unwavering faith in God and followed Christian Doctrine in living her life, raising her three sons, and treating people with respect and kindness. She was a member of Shorter Avenue Baptist Church were she previously served as a nursery leader and disciple to sick and grieving church members.
A Celebration of Life will be held October 26, 2016, at 2:00PM at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Guyton officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends October 26, 2016 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday October 26, 2016, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
