In Loving Memory of Ms. Martha Denise "Mimp" Quick
February 1, 1960 ~ November 18, 2023
With profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss, we announce the passing of Ms. Martha Denise "Mimp" Quick, aged 63, a cherished member of the Rome, Georgia, community, who departed this life peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023.
Born on February 1, 1960, in Rome, Georgia, to the late Billy Joe Quick and Eulene Knowles Quick, Martha was a beacon of light and love in Floyd County throughout her life. The eternal reunion with her beloved parents marks a bittersweet moment in her journey.
Martha's spirit and memories are lovingly carried forward by her adored grandson, Ethan Cole, who affectionately named her "Mimp.", her daughter, Marla Flowers, and her son-in-law, Stephen Flowers. She also leaves behind her sister, Donna Harris (John), and her brothers, Ritchie Quick and Barry Quick (Allison), alongside numerous nieces and nephews who fondly called her Aunt Niece.
Raised in the picturesque town of Lindale and a proud alumna of the Pepperrell Schools, Martha's early years were filled with community engagement and enduring friendships. Her spiritual journey blossomed in 2008 when she became a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and dedicated member of the Mount Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Shannon, under the pastorate of her favorite pastor, Jackie Culberson.
Martha was the epitome of a nurturing homemaker, creating a haven of love and warmth for her family. Known for her spontaneous 3:00 AM Waffle House runs, comforting presence during her daughter's sleepless nights, and joyous dance sessions at home, she epitomized selfless love.
Her creativity knew no bounds, from sunbathing with her unique blend of baby oil and iodine to her passion for antique shopping. With a flair for arts and crafts, she also boasted a green thumb, lovingly tending to her garden.
A life-of-the-party personality, Martha supported her brother-in-law's band at the Legion and was a karaoke enthusiast. Her presence at family gatherings, with her innovative recipes and crafts, was always a highlight.
With the true spirit of a pioneer, Martha was straightening her hair with an actual clothes iron before flat irons were made popular and available. She had extremely curly hair, and she would iron it until it was silky and straight, hanging well past her waist.
Martha’s earthly journey may have ended, but she will be missed beyond measure by the many loved ones she leaves behind.
Ms. Quick's family will welcome friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Tueday, November 21, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Though the family has chosen cremation the funeral service will take place at 7:00 PM immediately following the visitation service. Both services will be held at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165. Pastor Tim East will officiate the service, honoring Martha's life and legacy.
The family extends their gratitude to the community for their support and prayers during this time of mourning.
