With quiet grace and a spirit unbound, Mary Butts passed from this earthly shore, leaving in her wake the fragrance of love and the gentle bloom of memory. To those who knew her, Mary was a warm light in shadowed places. Her smile, ever-bright and sincere, welcomed both family and strangers, and her presence soothed like a balm upon the weary. She was a woman who gave without counting cost, who rose each morning with others on her mind, and who poured kindness into every crevice of the day. Her life was a quiet ministry of care.

She delighted in the smallest wonders, a delicate flower opening to the sun, the soft rustle of leaves stirred by Southern wind, or the faithful thump of a beloved dog's tail. Her hands, seasoned with earth, brought forth beauty wherever they toiled; her gardens testified to a green thumb blessed with divine attention to life’s finer points She kept her home with the same attentiveness, everything set just so, a portrait of order and peace.

A woman of free spirit and fierce loyalty, Mary found joy in sweet tea and sweeter moments. She adored her Georgia Bulldogs, found delight in thrifting treasures, and could become lost in the captivating whirl of romance dramas or the unraveling puzzles of crime shows. Yet, amidst life’s entertainments, her heart never wandered far from those she cherished.

She held a sacred closeness with her daughter, Ansly Waits, whose soul bore the deep imprint of her mother’s wisdom and warmth. Mary’s grandchildren, Dallas and Annakate Waits, were her pride and delight; small sunbeams in whom she sowed joy and nurtured tenderness. She shared unbreakable bonds with her sister, Tina Johnson, and brothers, Jason Butts and Joseph Butts. Her circle of love was wide yet deeply personal, including her best friend, Nicole Medlock, who knew the truest dimensions of Mary’s heart.

She loved her sweet dogs, Jasmine, who now greets her on Heaven’s lawn, and Chance, who remains to mourn her absence. Mary’s tenderness extended to all creatures; she was a soul who knew the language of animals and listened with the patience of one who loves purely.

She did not seek grandeur. Her triumphs were not in towers built or banners flown, but in the gentle way she made others feel seen, safe, and special. She was a woman of uncommon empathy, unshakable strength, and endless grace.

Though her physical form now rests, her legacy breathes in those she loved and lifted. Good Shepherd Funeral Home has been entrusted with the solemn honor of arranging her earthly farewell.

Let it be said of Mary Butts, as the heavens receive her, that she lived the gospel of gentleness, that her hands sowed kindness, and that her soul has now been gathered like a flower into the eternal garden of peace, where Jasmine waits, and joy blooms without end.
