Mary Corbin Obituary

Miss Mary Lou Corbin, age 87, of Rome passed away Monday, November 17, 2014.



A native of Rome, Miss Corbin was born July 11, 1927 daughter of the late Earve Alexander Corbin and Ada Lou Parker Corbin. She graduated from Armuchee High School and Tennessee Temple University.Miss Corbin was appointed as a missionary by the Southern Baptist Foreign Missionary Board in 1952 and served in Burkina Faso as director of the Girls School at Mahadaga until her retirement in 1993.Upon returning to the states she worked at the retirement home for missionaries in Sebring, Florida, and later worked at the home office of Sudan Interior Missions in Charlotte, North Carolina. She enjoyed sharing her experiences on the mission field with different church groups. Miss Corbin enjoyed sharing her experiences on the mission field with different church groups. Her ministry after retirement was caring for family members and serving others in need. She was currently a member of the Armuchee Baptist Church where she taught the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and the WMU. Miss Corbin was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Sidney, Grady, Orville, Warren, and Lemuel Corbin and Fay Nell Selman, Flora Beth Chavez, Bessie Mae Scoggins, and Madeline Pledger.



Survivors include her sister Sue Brooks of Rome and brother Lewis Corbin of Cumming. Cumming, GA . Several nieces and nephews also survive.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday at Armuchee Baptist Church, 6648 Big Texas Valley Road with Reverend Glen Clonts officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Armuchee Baptist Church Thursday from 1 P.M. until the service hour.



Nephews will serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the church at 1:45 P.M.



In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you honor Mary Lou's legacy by making contributions to the Girls School at Mahadaga, Burkina Faso, in care of SIM USA P.O.Box 7900 Charlotte North Carolina 28241-7900.
