In Loving Memory of Mary Evelyn Duvall
Mary Evelyn Duvall, aged 89, of Kingston, Georgia, departed this life on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Born on July 28, 1934, to Marvin and Maggie Matthews, Mary was a beacon of warmth and affection throughout her vibrant life.
Mary is cherished in memory by her son, Timmy Duvall (Christy); her daughters, Kay Hardigree, Tammy Brooks, Dianne Johnson (Will), and Kathy Ray (Johnny); and her brother, Paul Matthews. She is also fondly remembered by a flourishing family tree of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in passing were her devoted husband, James Marvin Duvall; her sons, Randal James Duvall and Jerry Lee Duvall; her brothers, Billy Matthews, Nolan Matthews Matthews, Shalon Matthews, Hylen Matthews, and Dual Matthews; and her sisters, Betty Faye Matthews and Annie Mae Howard.
A consummate homemaker, Mary imbued every corner of her home with love and meticulous care. Her culinary skills were legendary, and her home was a warm, inviting space that reflected her devotion to her family. The virtues of being a homemaker were manifest in her daily life as she nurtured, provided, and created an environment where love was always the central ingredient.
Growing up in a large family, Mary understood the profound joy and robust support system a big family provides. This understanding profoundly influenced her life, leading her to cherish and nurture her extensive family. The shared memories, camaraderie, and enduring bonds that form within a large family were values she held dear and fostered in her own lineage.
Mary's passion for gardening was more than a hobby, it was a vibrant part of her life that brought immense joy to her and those around her. Her love for flowers and the outdoors illuminated a glimpse into the vibrant mosaic of her spirit. Gardening was not just a pastime for her but a therapeutic retreat, a way to connect with nature, and a practice in patience and persistence. Her garden was an ever-blossoming tapestry that mirrored the beauty of her soul.
