In Loving Memory of Mary Ellen Brock Williams
June 22, 1929 – January 20, 2026
Mary Ellen Brock Williams, of Rome, Georgia, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, having attained the venerable age of ninety-six years. She was born on June 22, 1929, in Rome, Georgia, to the late Freeman and Clara Brock, whose guidance and care shaped a life marked by devotion, industry, and generous affection.
From her earliest days, Mary Ellen carried a quiet strength, a steadiness of spirit that revealed itself not in grand display but in faithful labor and steadfast love.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carlton Wright Williams. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Franklin Brock, William Brock, and James Brock, whom she held in enduring remembrance.
She leaves to honor her memory her sons, Gene Williams and David Williams; her daughter, Debbie Hatch; and a wide and flourishing legacy of grandchildren: Doug Williams, Tonya Vice, Stacey McClay, Emerald Brown, Nicholas Williams, Justin Williams, Jordan Hatch, Will Vice, Grant Vice, Trey Vice, Drew Vice, Ben Vice, Merritt Vice, Victoria Stovall, Corbin Stovall, Carson Stovall, Caroline Williams, Charlotte Williams, Nicholas Williams II, Mayo Allen, Stella Williams, and Sailor Williams, Beau Williams,Gage Williams, Blake Hatch and Ryder Hatch.She is also survived by her sister, Betty Sue Thomas. In their lives, her care and example continue to speak with gentle authority.
Mary Ellen was a devoted member of Wilkerson Road Fellowship, where her faith was lived more often in deed than in declaration. She found sacred purpose in tending her garden where she loved growing flowers, and working outdoors.
Her compassion extended beyond the human household, as she lovingly cared for animals.A gifted and joyful cook, Mary Ellen shared her talents freely, preparing and delivering meals to friends who were unable to venture out, believing nourishment to be both sustenance and kindness.
Services to honor Mary Ellen’s life will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, with the funeral following directly after. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Randy Vice will officiate the services.
Escorting Mary Ellen to her final resting place will be pallbearers Nicholas Williams, Justin Williams, Will Vice, Jordan Hatch, Beau Williams, and Gage Williams.
