In Loving Memory of Mary Mae Wadsworth Ozment

Mary Mae Ozment, 87, of Rome, GA passed away Monday, October 9, 2023. Born to Clarence William Wadsworth and Annie Mae Smith Wadsworth on October 15, 1935, Mary lived a life full of smiles, laughter, and love. Mary graduated from Coosa High School in 1955, which is where she met her loving husband, Floyd Ozment.
She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Wadsworth; her mother, Annie Wadsworth; her brother, Billy Wadsworth; and her brother, Clarence Wadsworth, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Floyd Ozment; two sons, Reginald (Amy) Ozment, Rome, GA, and Daniel (Sharon) Ozment, Dallas, GA; and three grandchildren, Charlie Ozment, Dallas, GA, Alyssa Ozment, Woodstock, GA, and Julianna Ozment, Rome, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Vera Givens, Ballground, GA; her brother, James (Glenda) Wadsworth, Cave Spring, GA; sister-in-law, Geraldine Turner, Rome, GA; and dear friend, Mary Parden, Wilmer, AL; as well as niece, Denise Elrod, Rome, GA, and many other nieces and nephews.
While her main occupation was mother and homemaker, she also enjoyed working at Miller Brothers department store in Rome, GA right out of high school, as a clerk at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in California while her husband was serving in the military, and as manager at Ozment Antiques in the late 90s and early 2000s. Mary was a faithful member at Beech Creek Methodist church for over 60 years. While there, she served in multiple ways including teaching children and youth, serving as choir director, decorating, and hospitality, along with being a member of UMW. She also served as the past worthy patron of the Coosa Order of the Eastern Star. Some of her hobbies included gardening and cooking. She was famous around the Coosa community for baking cakes. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and their two closest friends. She took great pride in providing for her family by cooking and canning vegetables, which began with shelling butterbeans on her wedding day.
A celebration of her life will be held at Beech Creek Methodist Church on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. The family will begin receiving friends at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to Beech Creek Methodist Church, 2972 Alabama Highway NW, Rome, GA 30165, or to Operation Christmas Child, online at www.samaritanpurse.org or by mail, Samaritan's Purse PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607.
