In Loving Memory of  Melinda Leigh Jones Durham
March 25, 1967 – November 8, 2023

It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the passing of Melinda Leigh Jones Durham of Rome, Georgia, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the age of 56. Born on March 25, 1967, in Rome, Georgia, she was the cherished daughter of Dennis James Jones and Patricia Dora Lee Barton.

Melinda was a beacon of love and warmth in her community, a legacy that began in her beloved role as a stay-at-home mom. She found profound joy in being there for her children, providing a comforting presence as they left for school and a welcoming embrace upon their return each day.

Preceded in passing by her father, Dennis Jones; her mother, Patricia Carroll; her stepfather and Talmadge Carroll, Melinda's radiant spirit will be lovingly remembered at heaven's gates by these beloved family members.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her son, Justin Durham; her daughter, Patsy Sanchez; her adored grandchildren, Jazmin, Veda, Mia, and Havana Sanchez; and her devoted sisters, Debra Staton (Bill), Cynthia Stapp, Jan Mitchell (Glen),her dog Bella Fay and several nieces and nephews.

A faithful attendee of Harrell Church of God in Trion, Georgia, Melinda's unwavering faith in Christ was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her. Her passion for life extended to her love for Bingo, a pastime she shared joyfully with family and friends.

More than anything, Melinda was a mother to her own children and all who needed her nurturing touch. She radiated love and care, touching the lives of many with her kindness and compassion. She was an exemplary mother, an extraordinary grandmother, and a steadfast sister and friend.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for a visitation service on Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Danny Hester will officiate a funeral service honoring Melinda's life on Monday, November 13, at 2:00 PM. Both services will be conducted at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations for funeral expenses. Fernando Sanchez, Dustin Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, Charles Kolak, and Dakota West will be pallbearers honoring Melinda's memory.

Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements, a testament to the care and dedication with which Melinda lived her life. Her memory will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of those she touched.
