With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Melvin Hastings, aged 79, on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in Kingston, Georgia. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, on June 29, 1944, to Roy Hastings and Martha Dotson, Melvin's life was a rich tapestry of love, adventure, and the great outdoors.

Melvin's journey on this earth ends with him leaving behind a legacy of warmth and cherished memories. He was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Hastings. He leaves behind his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Etta E. Wimpy Hastings, a partnership that stood the test of time, marked by mutual respect, deep affection, and countless shared adventures. Melvin's love and legacy will forever live in the hearts of his children, Kenny Hastings, Shane Hastings, Ricky Welborn, Lanita Brookshire, and Vicky Crocton. His spirit will continue to inspire his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, each a bearer of his adventurous spirit and loving nature.

Also mourning his loss are his brothers, Rayman Hastings, RD Hastings, and Donald Hastings, along with his sisters, Dorthy Carson, Elisabeth Newman, and Dosha Brittan. Each family member reflects a piece of Melvin's character, from his steadfast loyalty to his vibrant zest for life.

An avid outdoorsman, Melvin found his greatest joy in the embrace of nature. Whether he was fishing at his favorite river spot, hunting in the quiet of the woods, or exploring the wilderness on a four-wheeler, he was at home among the trees and under the open sky. His passion for the outdoors was not just a hobby but a way of life that he eagerly shared with his family and friends, fostering in them a profound appreciation for the natural world.

As we say goodbye to Melvin Hastings, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, adventure, and an unwavering connection to the earth.
