In Loving Memory of Steve (Michael Steve) Dodson
February 11, 1946 – December 3, 2025
Steve Dodson, 79, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. He was born on February 11, 1946, in LaFayette, Georgia, to the late Charlie and Gladys Dodson.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Hall Dodson; his daughter, Juli Dodson; his stepmother, Hazel Dodson; and his brother, Charles Kerry Dodson. He is survived by his son, M. Joseph Dodson, and his wife Susie; his daughter, Stephanie Dodson Hart and her husband Paul; his grandchildren, Madison Hart Brannon and her husband Tucker, and Andrew Hart; as well as several nieces and nephews who loved him.
Steve served proudly in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He carried a deep respect for all who served, and it was his habit to acknowledge anyone he saw in military or police attire, offering a simple greeting or nod of appreciation.
He enjoyed good stories, friendly conversation, and making people feel welcome. Steve never met a stranger and had a gift for turning everyday moments into warm, easy laughter.
As a young man, he attended Berry School for Boys, and the campus and community at Berry remained special to him throughout his life. He was a longtime member of North Broad Baptist Church and, in recent years, attended Fellowship Church.
Over the years, Steve worked alongside his father-in-law, Ralph Hall, at Wholesale Electric Supply Company.
A service to honor Steve’s life will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Fellowship Church. Billy Christol and Brady Fortenberry will officiate. Brandon Snow and Mandi Snow will provide the music.
Memorials may be made to Berry College at www.alwaysberry.com/gift.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
