Michael Dell Hennon, age 71, of Rome, Georgia, departed this life on Monday, December 25, 2023. A native son of Rome, he was born to James Wayne Hennon and Mae Jo Parrish Overby on June 11, 1952.
Michael's journey through life was marked by the love he shared and the relationships he nurtured. He was predeceased by his parents, Wayne Hennon and Mae Jo Overby. His memory is cherished by his beloved wife of 52 years, Kathy Hennon; his daughters, Traci Fowler (Britt) and Suzie Hennon; his brothers, Steve Hennon (Holly) and Jerry Hennon (Linda); and a close-knit family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A proud alumnus of Pepperrell High School, Class of 1970, Michael's professional life was defined by his tenure at Georgia Kraft and later, International Paper, where he rose to the position of crew leader. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his devotion to his faith and community.
Michael was a steadfast member of Lakeview Church, fondly known as “The Bubblegum Man” for his endearing practice of sharing bubble gum with children. This simple act of kindness left a lasting impression on many young hearts and exemplified his joyful spirit. He also attended the Christian Church of Rome, where he and Kathy celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary just a day before his passing.
Michael’s life was a glorious testimony to the joy of simple pleasures and the profound strength of familial love. His presence was a source of comfort and happiness, especially to children whose innate trust and love he earned effortlessly. His kind and pure soul made him a unique and irreplaceable figure in the lives of those he touched.
As we bid farewell to Michael Dell Hennon, we hold close to the memories of a life well-lived, a heart generously given, and a spirit that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be forever missed, but his legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.
The Hennon family has entrusted Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home with the arrangements.
