Mickey Naugher Obituary

In the quiet hours of Thursday, January 2, 2025, Mickey Guy Naugher slipped from this life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. At the age of 64, Mickey’s journey ended in Rome, Georgia, though his story began on October 28, 1960, in Centre, Alabama. Born to the late Guy Naugher Jr. and Ella Laverne Naugher, Mickey embodied the heart and soul of a man deeply rooted in family, faith, and community.

Mickey’s life was woven into the fabric of the Coosa community, where he graduated from Coosa High School in 1978. A proud member of the school’s football team, he carried the grit and determination of the game into every endeavor of his life.

He was a faithful member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church, where he not only worshipped but served with a generosity that knew no bounds. Mickey was the steadfast driver of the church bus on countless youth mission trips, an humble role that underscored his commitment to guiding others, both on the road and in their spiritual journeys.

As the owner of Naugher Mechanical Heat and Air, Mickey built a career that showcased his unmatched talent for fixing just about anything. Whether it was a broken air conditioner, or a broken spirit, Mickey’s hands and heart were always ready to mend.

Outside of work, he found freedom on the open road, taking his motorcycle to Panama City Beach for bike week, where the roar of engines and the ocean breeze provided moments of pure joy.

Mickey’s greatest masterpiece, however, was his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Leslye Jeanette Naugher, who was the steady partner in his life’s dance. His children, Joseph Guy Naugher, Steven Combs (Samantha), and Jessica Rogers, carry forward his love and strength. His grandchildren, Joey Naugher, Matt Naugher, Casey Waddell, Promise Rogers, and Adalyn Combs, will forever remember his infectious laughter and boundless love.

His sisters, Lori Lemley (Jim) and Leslie Jordan (Donnie), along with his nephew, Jason Jordan, and niece, Kayla Jordan, were constants in his life, each a thread in the tapestry of his story.

Mickey’s heart was enormous, a reservoir of care and compassion. He spent countless hours with his parents, particularly during the decade his mother lived in a nursing home, proving that love is an action as much as a feeling.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and service, a man who never met a stranger and always found time to help anyone in need.

A memorial service to celebrate Mickey’s life will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel, 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 AM, with the service to follow at 11:00 AM. Pastor Josh Walley will officiate, and Tim Peace and Chuck Self will share eulogies and reflections.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Garden Lakes Baptist Church, ensuring that Mickey’s spirit of giving continues to inspire others.

Though Mickey’s time on this earth ended too soon, his memory remains a living testament to a life well-loved and well-lived.

Good Shepherd Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
