Midge Elaine Bright Obituary

In Loving Memory of Midge Elaine Bright
March 21, 1940 – April 27, 2026

Midge Elaine Bright passed on a Monday, April 27, 2026, in Rome, Georgia, at the age of eighty-six. She was born on March 21, 1940, in Rome, Georgia, to HV and Ruth Hutchins, who have now welcomed her into that quiet place where the years no longer weigh on the body.

Midge is preceded into eternity by her sons, Steve Graham and Randy Graham; her daughter, Susan Graham; her brothers, Homer Hutchins, Fred Hutchins, David Hutchins, Gene Hutchins, and Bill Hutchins; and her sisters, MaryAnn Hutchins and Alma Beam. They have gone ahead of her, and now she walks among them again, unhurried and whole.

Here, Midge leaves behind the living threads of her story. Her daughter, Phyllis Renee (Poly) Martinez, carries the sound of her voice in ways that time cannot take. Her grandchildren: Brittany Domingo (Enrique), Alex Mendoza, Giovanni Guzman, Trish Graham, Ashlee Graham, Hannah Graham, Syconda, Jennifer, Justin, Christian Guzman, and Patrick Guzman, and her nine great-grandchildren bear the quiet imprint of her love, whether they know it fully or are only just beginning to understand it. Her brother, Oliver Hutchins, remains, holding the shared weight of memory from a time when the world felt both larger and closer all at once.

There are no grand declarations needed to explain who she was. She lived, as many do, in the spaces between moments in conversations that stretched long past their beginnings, and  in the ordinary days that gathered meaning simply because they were shared. If you listen closely, you might still hear her there, in the hush of a room after laughter fades, in the stillness that follows a name spoken aloud.

Loss does not always arrive as a storm. Sometimes it comes as the quiet absence of a chair left empty, or a voice no longer answering back. Yet, even in that silence, something remains. It lingers in the habits we keep, the stories we tell, the love that does not loosen its hold.

Services to honor her life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, with Chaplain Alan Fuller officiating.

When the day has passed and the doors have closed, those who loved Midge may still find her, though not in the place where she is laid to rest, but in the quiet corners of their lives, where memory keeps its vigil and love refuses to be forgotten.

Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
