Miriam Wilkey Obituary
Mrs. Miriam Eloise McGinnis Wilkey, age 90 of Rome, passed away Monday December 15, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Wilkey was born March 26, 1924, in Floyd County, a daughter of the John Lester McGinnis, and Mamie Millican McGinnis. She was a member of North Rome United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wilkey loved her family and loved to cook. She was employed many years at Little Star Food Store on Calhoun Avenue. Mrs. Wilkey was preceded in death by her husband, Earl H. Wilkey, brothers, Charles McGinnis, John "Buster" McGinnis, special brother in law, Roy Johnston, sisters, Mary Elizabeth McGinnis, Martha Johnston.
Survivors include her son, Wayne Wilkey, Sr. Rome; grandchildren: Pam Wilkey, Daphne Rogers, Wayne Wilkey, Jr. 2 step grandchildren, great grand children, Justin Allen, Charlie Knight, Kayla Wilkey, Ashley Wilkey, Teagan Wilkey, Nicholas Rogers, Keslie Wilkey, Austin Wilkey, great great grandchild, Branden Allen, brothers, Jame McGinnis, Rome; Marvin (Susan) McGinnis, FL; sisters, Virginia (Robert) Reeps, Rome; Nancy (Edwin) Sims, Rome; special sister in law, Jeanette McGinnis, Rome; special nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 Thursday December 18, 2014 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Beth Sanders, and Parnick Jennings, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. The family will receive from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service on Thursday, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
Her great grandsons Justin Allen, Charlie Knight, Austin Wilkey, and Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
