It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of Mirna Daniela Young, age 53, after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia on October 29, 1972 to Susanna Morón and the late Napoleón Cabrera, and she was welcomed to her eternal life on February 27, 2026.
Mirna was guided by her belief and trust in God, who blessed her throughout her life. In turn, she blessed others, enchanting everyone she met with her warmth and humor. She was a loving mother, sister, daughter-in-law, and wife. Mirna immigrated to the United States in 1995 with her family. She first settled in Statesboro, Georgia before moving to Rome in 2009. She obtained her American citizenship in 2017. Mirna found her calling as a pre-school paraprofessional, teaching and inspiring young students for 15 years. Children and animals alike gravitated toward her because of her effortlessly gentle and loving nature. Her rescues, a dog Pepe and a cat Golden, adored her. Mirna dreamed of returning to life in the countryside, as she lived in her childhood.
Mirna was preceded in death by her father-in-law Max Young and her mother-in-law Joy Young.
She is survived by her daughters Abigail Ximena and Caroline Gabriela Young, who will forever carry her wisdom, integrity, and love in their hearts. She is also survived by her husband Joe Young, her mother Susanna, and among her six siblings, her older sister Susy Cabrera and younger brothers Eduardo Morón and Gonzalo Ulloa. She was godmother to her niece Emilia Ulloa.
A memorial service and mass honoring Mirna’s beautiful life will be held on March 6, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. We encourage all attending to bring flowers to honor her passion for gardening and nature.
