With the gentle grace of a setting sun and its melancholic beauty reflecting life's poignant moments, we mark the peaceful passing of Opal Wells Allmon on Thursday, October 5, 2023. A life of 74 years, rich in experiences, love, and faith, came to its serene conclusion.

Born on a crisp autumn day, November 23, 1948, in the scenic town of Collinsville, Alabama, Opal's early years were cradled amidst the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The landscapes of her youth, much like the landscapes of our memories, are painted with the rich hues of family, tradition, and Southern charm.

Already in the embrace of heaven are those who once held her close: her cherished daughter, Martha Faye Adkison, who will surely have welcomed her with the same warmth and love that defined their bond on earth; her deeply missed niece, Billywell Buckwell; and her devoted sisters, Margaret Hiller, Dornth Grant, Florri Johnson, and Faya, whose memories and legacies are now entwined with hers in eternity.

But as with every sunset, the promise of a new dawn remains. Opal's legacy continues to shine brightly through her grandchildren, Josha Dover and Jessica Isabell, who carry forward her spirit, wisdom, and the lessons she so generously shared.

Opal's faith was the compass by which she navigated life. A devoted member of Crossroad Baptist Church, her spiritual journey was enriched by the teachings of Pastor Joel Olsteen. She often found solace and inspiration in his insights on living every day with Christian grace and purpose. Beyond her faith, Opal had an endearing passion for unraveling mysteries. A true fan at heart, she eagerly anticipated the twists and turns of TV shows like "Bones" and "NCIS", often deducing the culprits before they were revealed on screen.

To celebrate a life so beautifully lived, family and friends will gather on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel. A time of remembrance and visitation is planned from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM, allowing loved ones to share stories, tears, and smiles. The funeral service, a tribute to Opal's remarkable journey, will commence at 3:00 PM. All arrangements are being graciously handled by Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
