In Loving Memory of Patricia Jean Beard Sherman
June 19, 1961 – May 17, 2024
Patricia Jean Beard Sherman, 62, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024. Born on June 19, 1961, she was the cherished daughter of the late Harold James Beard and Irene Winnie Rowland Beard.
Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, Calvin Jennings Sherman; her beloved daughter, Jessica Leigh Palmer; her brother, Randy Beard; and her sister, Teresa Ferguson. She is also remembered fondly by many faithful and loving friends whose lives she touched deeply.
A self-employed hairdresser, Patricia thrived in the beauty industry, combining her artistic talent with her passion for helping others feel their best. Her creativity and skill were evident in every haircut and style she crafted, making her a beloved figure in her community.
Patricia was a dedicated member of Cornerstone Church and Rally Up International, where her faith and devotion shone brightly. A mighty worshipper and fierce prayer warrior, she found joy in playing and listening to music. She was a talented musician, adept at playing the guitar, piano, and ukulele, and an accomplished singer who used her gifts to minister both locally and abroad. Her heart for Haiti was especially strong, and she worked alongside her dear friends Bobbi and Greg to bring hope and aid to those in need, witnessing firsthand the country’s devastating poverty.
Throughout her life, Patricia faced numerous challenges with unwavering faith and strength, becoming a beacon of hope and love to her family and friends. Her courageous on-and-off battle with cancer, starting in 2006, was a testament to her resilience. Despite these struggles, she remained a loving and adventurous mother and wife, always finding time to create and explore new passions.
Patricia's love extended beyond her human relationships to her furry companions, Marley and Maple. They were her constant sources of joy and comfort, offering unconditional love and companionship.
Patricia was a woman of many talents, each a testament to her creativity and passion. She was an artist at heart; her artistic pursuits in painting and pottery, her enviable sense of style, and her unmatched ability to combine colors and fabrics made her a fashion icon in her own right. Her legacy is one of inspiration, encouraging others to pursue their own passions with the same fervor she displayed in every aspect of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family has entrusted Patricia’s arrangements to the care of Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home, who is working diligently with them to finalize dates and times for the services.
