Patty Sue Virginia Poole Garrett

Patty Sue Virginia Poole Garrett, 88, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023. 

Patty was born on June 21, 1934, to the late Benjamin Franklin Poole and Mamie (Elsie Mae) Studdard Poole. Her brothers and sisters are A.J. Poole, William Poole, Tim Poole, Mozell Huckaby, Jan Hughes, Roxy Yarbrough, Charles Poole and Junior Poole.

Patty married the love of her life, John Lee Garrett on March 27, 1950. They had six children: John Lamar (Nancy) Garrett, Charles Andrew (Jan) Garrett, Barbara Gail Garrett (Butch) Cohenour, Daryl Dwayne (Angie) Garrett, Brenda Sue Garrett (Paul) Lloyd, and Nathan Allen Garrett. They remained married until John passed away on April 23, 2018.

Patty's children blessed her with fourteen grandchildren: Jessica Lee Garrett (Scott) Woodridge, John Lane (April) Garrett, Stephanie Michelle Garrett, Slaughter Shaun, Patrick (Lynn) Garrett, Stephen Darrell (Heather) Garrett, Robert Shane (Stacey) Wright, Sherman Lewis (April) Wright, Valarie Howell Garrett, Nicole Garrett, Heather Dawn Garrett, Dillan Dwayne Garrett, Christina Sue Lloyd (Chuck) Padrick, Britney Daniel Marie Garrett (Matthew) Fincher, and Nathan Wayne Garrett. Patty also had thirty-one grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

To say Patty loved her family is an understatement. She absolutely adored them. She was so very proud of her large family and cherished every single visit, phone call, and gathering. She loved her animals, they were always welcomed in her home, she cherished them as they were an important part of her life.

Patty was no stranger to hard work and she prided herself on being an asset to her husband and she worked alongside him to provide a wonderful life for their family. She took pride in her home, making visitors feel a sense of warmth, safety, joy and comfort. Patty loved gardening, she had a green thumb and nourished an abundance of plants throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by everyone that crossed her path.

The family will hold a visitation on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will take place Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 12:00PM following interment at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Pastor Edward Skoretz will be officiating.

Pallbearers include Shane Wright, Sherman Wright, Shaun Garrett, Stephen Garrett, Dillon Garrett and Kaleb Wright.
