Rebecca Chapman Obituary

In Loving Memory of Rebecca Lee Johnson Chapman

March 15, 1953 – February 24, 2024

Rebecca Lee Johnson Chapman, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. She was 70 years old. Born to the late William Horace Johnson and Etta Lee Killgore on March 15, 1953, Rebecca's life was a tribute to the power of love, resilience, and the joy of family.

Preceded in death by her parents, her cherished husband Donald Eugene Chapman and her brothers Larry Gilbert Johnson and Mike Johnson, Rebecca's legacy is carried forward by those she loved fiercely and who loved her in return.

She is mourned and remembered by her devoted son, Doug Chapman, and her loving daughter, Kimberly Bailiff. Her spirit lives on through her grandchildren, Cori Mason, Dustin Brown, Kelsie Brown, Conner Weaver and Devan Brown, and her great-grandchildren, Grayson Outlaw, Walker Mason, Aiden Brown, Kolbie Sellers and Jasey Sellers, who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. Rebecca also leaves behind her brother, Joe Lee Hester, and her sisters, Kristy Johnson, Lori Remillard, Cindy Navin, Judy Newberry, and Sherrill Self, along with a community of friends and relatives who were touched by her warmth and generosity.

Rebecca was the personification of a nurturing soul with a heart as expansive as the ocean. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, often seen in the loving care she provided, particularly to newborns. Rebecca possessed exceptional culinary skills. Her potato salad was legendary, a dish that epitomized her knack for bringing people together through the joy of food. Rebecca found solace and pleasure in the simple things in life, whether it was getting lost in the latest soap opera or sharpening her mind with word search puzzles.

A celebration of Rebecca's life, marked by joy and love, will take place with visitation services on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by the funeral service on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Both services will be held at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia, 30165. Rebecca will be laid to rest at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, escorted by pallbearers Len Newberry, Gregory Newberry, Mike Self, Keith Mason, Dustin Brown, and Devan Brown, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and love.

As we bid farewell to Rebecca Lee Johnson Chapman, we hold tight to the memories, the laughter, and the love she shared so freely. May her soul find eternal peace, and may those who knew her find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind.
