Rickey Blaine Mathis was a remarkable individual who exemplified unwavering dedication and commitment throughout his life. His devotion to his family showed up in the way he loved and cared for them. He loved horses and would spend countless hours exploring the countryside on his favorite steed. Having a passion for nature, Ricky also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and many friends and family reaped the benefits of his successful hunts, not only as a skilled outdoorsman but also as a chef as he prepared the bounty of his hunt with incredible culinary skills. Though he had many passions, his greatest was his grandchildren. Ricky simply relished the time he got to spend with them. Rickey’s grandchildren were the light of his life and a comfort he did not take for granted.
Ricky was a retired UA local Union 72 pipefitter and welder. He thoroughly enjoyed working with his hands, and he considered himself fortunate to be able to work in a field doing the things he enjoyed. He loved the Lord and gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was of the Baptist faith and a devoted member of Dykes Creek Baptist Church.
