Robert Kitchen Obituary

In Loving Memory of Robert Wayne Kitchen

March 19, 1951 – June 28, 2025

There are men who walk the earth quietly, as if mindful of every footfall on its sacred soil. Robert Wayne Kitchen, aged seventy-four, of Dallas, Georgia, was such a man. He was rooted like a tall pine in the red clay of the South, weathered by time, and warmed by music that rose from his soul like mist off the Coosa River at dawn. On Saturday, June 28, 2025, Robert departed this life, having lived it with a blend of grit and gentleness that echoed across decades.

He was born in Rome, Georgia, on March 19, 1951, to Robert Melton Kitchen and Billie Dean Bobo Kitchen, both gone now, but surely waiting to greet their son on the other side, where the music never ends and memory never fades.

Robert was a man of strings and song. He lived inside the hum of amplifiers and the warm, aching bends of guitar chords. He belonged to several rock bands throughout his life, bands whose names may have shifted with time, but whose heartbeats carried the same rhythm: one of passion, rebellion, and the irresistible longing to turn life’s sorrows into something beautiful. On small-town stages and among kindred spirits, he played and sang, his voice weaving into the backdrop of smoky venues and the long highways of memory.

He was a father to three children; Daniel Kitchen, Katheryn Kitchen, and Shari Williams, and in each of them resides a measure of his fire, his stillness, his yearning. He was a grandfather to Andrew, Eric, Talia, Kayla, Jaelyn, Noah, Kinsley, Brody and Tessa who will carry his story forward, even if only through the way a song can move a person without warning.

He is also survived by his sister, Brenda Carol Dobilas, and her husband Robert, who knew him not only as a brother but as a fellow traveler along life’s winding road.

The family, still navigating the quiet echo of his absence, is preparing to honor his life on Thursday, July 3, 2025 with a visitation for friends and family at Good Shepherd Funeral Home from 11:00AM till the Funeral hour at 1:00PM interment following at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome, Georgia; his birthplace, his beginning, and now, his return.

Good Shepherd Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of this passage and is honored to serve the Kitchen family in this tender hour of farewell.
