In Loving Memory of Robert Allen McWaters
October 11, 1959 - February 16, 2026
Robert Allen McWaters, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, leaving behind the steady hum of a life well lived and hands that had spent decades coaxing stubborn engines back to life. He was born on October 11, 1959, in Marietta, Georgia, to Geraldine McWaters and the late Joe McWaters.
From an early age, Robert understood the language of tools and torque, of grease-stained denim and long days that ended only when the job was done right. He was a mechanic by trade, but that word hardly tells the whole story. He was the kind of man who could listen to an engine idle and tell you what it needed before you ever popped the hood. He retired from Precision Tune Allcare as a manager mechanic, earning the respect of coworkers and customers alike with his know-how and steady leadership. He previously worked with Rome Electric Motor, building a reputation as someone who did not cut corners and did not shy away from hard work.
He loved NASCAR with the same devotion he gave to his craft. Race days were sacred time, the roar of engines echoing the rhythm of his own working life. There was something about speed, grit, and competition that spoke to him. He admired men who pushed machines to their limits, perhaps because he had spent his life understanding just how much heart it takes to keep them running.
However, more than engines or race tracks, Robert loved his family. He is survived by his mother, Geraldine McWaters; his daughter, Kimberly Capello; his grandchildren, Isabella, Ben, James, and Justice; and his brother, Terry McWaters. In addition to his father, Joe McWaters, Robert is preceded in death by his brother, Michael McWaters.
Services to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, with the funeral following at 2:00 PM. Robert will be laid to rest at East View Cemetery.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
