In Loving Memory of Robert Lester Tucker Jr.
September 16, 1960 – March 8, 2025
The world lost a man of grit and good humor on March 8, 2025, when Robert Lester Tucker Jr. "Robby", sixty-four, of Rome, Georgia, left this earth for the glory of beyond. He was born under the late summer sky of September 16, 1960, in Trion, Georgia, to Robert Lester Tucker and the late Jeanette Wade Wheeling Tucker.
Robby was the eldest of five children, and he wore the weight of that role with pride. He was a natural born worker, a man of calloused hands and strong back who understood the dignity of labor. As a journeyman and a skilled machine operator, he was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 926, mastering the art of heavy equipment like a conductor commanding a symphony.
He believed in hard work, in loyalty, in the power of a sharp tongue and a quick wit. Robby was a man who found humor in the cracks of everyday life. His sarcasm as sharp as a well-honed blade but wielded with a glint of mischief rather than malice. He was funny in that way Southern men often are, laughing at the absurdities of life while carrying a quiet, steadfast love for those around him.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Ann Hubbard and grandson, Alexander Hubbard. His brothers, Daniel “Dinky” Tucker and Tony Tucker, and his sisters, Lynn Smith and Jan Cordle, knew him not just as a sibling but as a force that shaped their lives in ways too deep to measure.
Robby had a way of bringing people together, especially when food was involved. He was happiest in a kitchen filled with laughter, a grill sizzling with something worth gathering around, or a house brimming with the comforting aroma of a meal made with care. Holidays were his stage, and his family was his audience. He played the host with the ease of a man who knew that nothing in life mattered more than the people you shared it with.
He bled red and black for the University of Georgia Bulldogs, his allegiance as unwavering as the Southern heat in August. And when it came to politics, Robby made no apologies. He was an unabashed Trump supporter, a man who stood firm in his beliefs and didn’t mind letting the world know it.
Robby was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Wade Wheeling Tucker, and his nephew, Justin Haney. And though death may have taken him from this world, those who knew him understand that men like Robert Tucker do not simply vanish, but they leave their fingerprints on the lives they touched, their voices echoing in the memories of those left behind.
Among those mourning his passing is a dear and special friend, Miranda Allen, whose presence in his life was a testament to the bonds that stretch beyond explanation.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to assist the Tucker family in finalizing arrangements for Robby's services. His visitation will take place at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 14 from 6:00PM till the Funeral Service hour at 8:00PM. Please join us to honor Robby's life.
For now, those who loved Robert will do what he would have wanted and gather together, tell stories, share a meal, raise a glass, and laugh loud enough to let heaven know that Robert Tucker was here.
