In Loving Memory of Ruthy Raye Rogers McCain

June 27, 1946 – August 12, 2025

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Ruthy Raye Rogers McCain, seventy-nine, slipped from this life into the arms of her Savior. She was born on June 27, 1946, in Newport, Arkansas, the daughter of the late George and Minner Miller Rogers.

In 1959, Ruthy’s path led her to Minter City, Mississippi. She attended LeFlore County High School in Bena, Mississippi.

Ruthy built her home alongside her husband, the late Curtis Eugene McCain, with whom she shared love, labor, and the running of Curtis Wholesale Grocery in Tomnolen, Mississippi. There, behind the counter, Ruthy became as much a fixture as the shelves themselves; greeting each customer with a knowing smile, a soft word, and a willingness to listen.

She was a devoted member of Oakhill Church of Christ. When she moved to Rome, Georgia, in 2009, she brought with her that same spirit of service and neighborly care, weaving herself into the fabric of her new home as though she had always belonged there.

Ruthy’s life was framed by love for her family, for her community, and for the God she served. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis; her daughter, Cynthia Burnley; her brothers, Harvey Rogers, Alfred Rogers, James Rogers, and Charles Rogers; and her sisters, Alene Scribner, Jewell Diton, Joyce Aust, Janie Donal, and Lisa West. She leaves behind her son, Edward Allen Aust; and her sisters, Faye Johnson of Greenwood, Mississippi, and Mary Ann Coles of Tucson, Arizona.  Son in law Ricky Burnley.

Services to honor Ruthy’s life will be held at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel on Friday, August 15, 2025. Visitation will begin at noon, and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, with Michael Farris officiating. She will be laid to rest at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
