July 7, 1962 – June 8, 2024
Sandra Johnston Williams, 61, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024. She was born to the late James Johnston and the late Mary Jane Williams Ray on July 7, 1962, in Rome, Georgia. Sandra was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness and warmth.
Sandra is survived by her sons, Steve Culberson, Joshua Williams, and Joseph Williams; her daughters, Chasity Starr McMichael (Delando Marcell), and, Vanessa Williams, Maria Holbrook, Donna Rider, and Lacretia Washington. She was a proud grandmother to Christopher Jarrell Thomas, Michael Culberson and his fiancée Krishone Henry, and their child Tony, Joseph William Jr., Jasmine Williams, Caleigha Washington, Kingston Creamer, Xaaviyn Creamer, Travis Wimberley, Tyree Hendrix, Tamara Hendrix, Kelsey Williams, Ryann Kidd, and Jamiyu’s (Ezequiel) Culberson. Sandra is also survived by her sisters, Teresa Garcia, Brenda Chambers, Annette Roberson (Adrian), and Glenda Fey Jones Johnson; her mother-in-law, Hallie Williams; and her sister-in-law, Robin Williams and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sandra is predeceased by her brothers Steve Lamar Johnson and Shawn David Williams.
Sandra was a woman of remarkable spirit and compassion. Known for her outgoing personality, she never met a stranger and had the unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and she approached every task with dedication and integrity.
Sandra had a heart for those fighting addictions and she selflessly dedicated time to Narcotics Anonymous, helping those who needed someone in their corner to help them through the excruciating withdrawal symptoms. Sandra was devoted to helping former substance abusers see that there was indeed light at the end of the tunnel, and this light would guide them to a more fruitful and prosperous life.
In her downtime, Sandra enjoyed the simple pleasure of playing slot machines. Though she never set her hopes on winning a gigantic jackpot, the bright lights, engaging sound effects, and the thrill of potential wins brought her joy.
Despite being divorced, Sandra and her ex-husband, Alvin Williams remained the dearest of friends. Her love for baseball was a significant part of her life, not just as a pastime but as a community endeavor. Alongside her ex-husband, Sandra played a pivotal role in coaching Little League baseball. Sandra's commitment to Little League was not just about the game; it was about mentoring young players and creating an environment where they could grow both on and off the field.
A loving mother, loyal wife, and doting grandmother, Sandra poured her love and energy into her children and grandchildren, creating a legacy of love that will continue to inspire them. Her home was a sanctuary of love, laughter, and learning, where family gatherings were filled with joy and warmth.
Sandra's life will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held at a later date.
Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
