In Loving Memory of Sarah Ashley Sargent
May 29, 2002 – August 12, 2023
In the delicate dance of life, where rhythms both lively and melancholy play out in harmonious contrast, we celebrate the life of Sarah Ashley Sargent. On Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the age of 21, the sun set on her chapter in Rome, Georgia, as she entered into forever peace with the Lord. Born to Michael Lee Sargent, Sr. and Kimberly Pruitt, on May 29, 2002, her life embodied love, joy, and enduring spirit.
She was not just a young woman but a symphony of happiness and strength, tenacity, and grace. A true daddy’s girl, Sarah wore her heart on her sleeve, embracing her family with a fierce love that was especially profound for her brother, Michael Lee Sargent, Jr. Every bond she forged was deep and abiding, including those with her brother's fiancé Maddison Pearson, her precious little sister Abby Hudson, her steadfast uncle Charles Tony Sargent (Anne), her loving aunt Teresa Sargent, and her soul partner, Lydia Mae Williams, with whom she shared a love as deep as existence itself.
Sarah embraced the world and all its creatures with a zeal unique to her, cherishing animals with a tenderness that spoke of her pure heart. God held a place of reverence in her spirit, guiding her through the rhythms of life. She had an unmatched penchant for seafood and took delight in life’s simple pleasures.
Blue was her favorite color, and it painted her days, vibrant and full of life. While her know-it-all banter often brought smiles, it was her genuine sweetness that endeared her to all. The Bible was her anchor, its verses the whispers that carried her forward. And in Lydia Mae Williams, she found a sincere love, a connection of souls, deep and resonant.
Sarah’s journey on this earthly realm was all too brief. Her absence carves an echoing chasm of sorrow, felt intensely by all whose lives she touched. In the grand tapestry of life, Sarah's thread was vivid and bright. Her sudden departure has cast shadows of sorrow across the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
As we gather to bid farewell, the pallbearers - Mark McKinney, Jimmy Hammonds, Diamond Garret, Dallas Pearson, Don Bray, and CJ Johnson - will shoulder the weight of our collective grief, guiding her on this final journey.
Sarah's life, albeit short, is a reminder of the beauty of the fleeting moments, the joy in the everyday, and the depth of love one can hold in a young heart. Let us celebrate her life, for she was, and always will be, a radiant soul that touched the lives of many.
The family invites all who felt the warmth of Sarah's spirit to join them in celebrating her life. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This will be followed by a funeral service on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 12:00 PM. Both moments of remembrance will be held in the sanctity of Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, located at 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165. Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home will guide us through this journey of farewell.
