Sarah Terry Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Sarah Jane Terry

November 19, 1944 – February 18, 2025

In loving remembrance, we gather to honor the life and legacy of Sarah Jane Terry, who, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the age of eighty, cast off the burdens of this world and found peace everlasting. Born on the crisp autumn day, of November 19, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was destined to be a beacon of kindness and grace, leaving a trail of love in the hearts of all who knew her.

Through the journey of her years, Sarah bore witness to the seasons of love and loss, having been preceded in death by her first husband, Authur Byess, and her second husband, Jerry Terry. Yet, the tapestry of her life remained richly woven with the presence of her cherished family. She leaves behind her beloved sons, Austin Byess, Johnny Byess, Michael Byess and Albert Byes and Matthew Terry; her devoted daughters, Robin Smith and Krissie Jarrett; and the joy of her lineage, her grandsons, Brandon Byess and Blake Byess. Also mourning her passing yet celebrating the warmth of her memory is her dear sister, Lilly Hill whom they shared in the laughter, trials, and triumphs of a life well-lived.

Sarah’s heart knew no boundaries, her generosity no end. To the weary traveler and the lost soul, she was a refuge; to the hungry, she was a provider; to the sorrowful, she was a light. It was said that she would give the very shirt off her back if it meant another might find warmth. A home was never a mere dwelling to her, but a place of welcome, and many who had nowhere to turn found solace beneath her roof. Her kindness was not conditional, nor her charity sparing, as she gave as though the well of her goodness was infinite.

Yet, among all things dear to her heart, few held a place as sacred as her beloved furry canine companion, Buster, whose steadfast presence brought her joy and comfort in the quiet moments of life.

Sarah spent her working years in the food industry, dedicating herself to Kroger, where she served with diligence, her days filled with the simple yet profound joy of meeting others’ needs. Her truest labor of love, however, was in the lives she touched, the hands she lifted, and the burdens she lightened.

A service to honor Sarah’s life and bid her farewell will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel. The visitation service will begin at 2:00 PM, allowing loved ones to gather in remembrance. The funeral service will follow directly at 4:00 PM, led by Pastor Jim Parker. In quiet reverence, Matthew Terry will bear the solemn honor of pallbearer as Sarah is laid to rest at Lindale Cemetery, where the hush of time will cradle her in peaceful slumber.

The care of her earthly vessel has been entrusted to Good Shepherd Funeral Home, but her soul now dwells where suffering ceases, and love endures beyond the veil.
