Stevie Evans Obituary

In Loving Memory of Stevie Ray Evans, Sr.

November 14, 1968 – March 9, 2024

We bid farewell to a soul whose existence was woven with threads of affection, devotion, and a profound appreciation for life's simplest pleasures. Stevie Ray Evans, Sr., a luminary of familial bonds, departed from this mortal coil on March 9, 2024. Born on a crisp November day in 1968 amidst the rolling hills of Floyd County, Georgia, his journey was one infused with the essence of love and the echoes of cherished moments. His love for family, especially his grandchildren, was as boundless as the sky, filling each moment with warmth and affection. Their laughter was his melody, their hugs his sanctuary, and their love his guiding star.

Preceding him in death were his beloved mother, Mary Austin, his father, Paul Austin, and his cherished sisters, Maryann Jennings, Betty Austin, Romana Jackson, his brother Roy Evans. Yet, their spirits live on in the memories they shared, forever etched in the hearts of those who loved them.

Stevie's vibrant and effervescent spirit lives on in the hearts of those he held dear. He is survived by his devoted girlfriend, Lynn Hawkins, his loving sister, Elaine Fricks, and his cherished brother, Jackie Austin. Stevie's legacy extends through the generations, as he leaves behind his sons Bartow Evans (Kristy), Stevie Ray Evans, Jr., Hank Harden, Isaac Reynolds, Brandon Ray Evans, Bubba Hawkins (Charla), Michael Henderson, Mickey Collins (Mandi), and Alex Palmer, along with his daughters Missy Collins and Elizabeth Davis. Twelve adoring grandchildren bask in the glow of his affection, while a myriad of nieces and nephews carry forth his spirit with love and reverence.

Stevie was a maestro with a joystick and a genius with a handheld controller. He navigated virtual landscapes with the finesse of a seasoned explorer, conquering dragons, saving princesses, and mastering every level with the grace of a true gaming guru. His prowess was legendary, his victories celebrated with gleeful high-fives and exuberant shouts of triumph.

In the whimsical chaos of animated antics, Stevie found kindred spirits in the zany escapades of the Taz-Mania cartoon. With its colorful characters and uproarious antics, it was a world where laughter reigned supreme, and every episode was a reminder to embrace life's joyful absurdities.

Yet amidst the laughter and levity, Stevie found solace and serenity in the embrace of faith. At the Coosa Valley Praise and Worship Center, his spirit soared on wings of devotion, his heart lifted by the harmonious melodies of praise. There, surrounded by the warmth of community and the grace of divine love, he found peace amidst life's ebbs and flows.

As we gather to celebrate Stevie's life and mourn his passing, we can’t help but to rejoice in the countless memories he gifted us. Let us honor his legacy by embracing each day with the same boundless joy and love that defined his existence. Though he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In honoring Stevie's memory, a cadre of devoted pallbearers, including Hank Harden, Mark Evans, Mickey Collins, Johnny Blake, Jackie Austin, Marty Duncan, and Greg Astin, will tenderly carry him to his final resting place. Standing in solidarity with these honored companions are Alex Palmer and Mark Korner, who will ensure Stevie's journey is met with grace and dignity.
