In Loving Memory of Tammy Lynn Perry Henderson
July 2, 1965 – October 17, 2025
Tammy Lynn Perry Henderson of Lyerly, Georgia, passed from this life, leaving behind a legacy woven with tenderness, laughter, and the light of a thousand sunflowers. She was sixty years old, having been born beneath the summer skies of Knoxville, Tennessee, on July 2, 1965; she was a child destined to find beauty wherever she walked.
Tammy’s journey through this world was shaped by love in its many forms. Though she first drew breath in the arms of her biological parents, Joanie and Lynn Spangler, she was cradled into her true home by Clarence and Oda Perry, who adopted her as a baby and raised her with steadfast devotion. From them, Tammy learned to see the world not only as it was, but as it could be: radiant, redemptive, and full of grace. Now, both sets of parents welcome her with open arms, rejoicing that she has come home.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Henderson; her cherished son, Nicky Perry; her loving daughter, Shawna Perry; and her treasured granddaughter, Victoria Morrison, who brought immeasurable joy to her days. She also leaves behind her brother, Jimmy Spangler; her sister, Tonya Patterson; her niece, Janna; and her nephews, Eric and Jessie. Each of them carries within their hearts a spark of her laughter, a memory of her kindness, and the warmth of her love.
Tammy’s spirit found its reflection in nature’s gentlest marvels. She adored sunflowers and their golden faces that turned toward the light, as their tall stems stood proud and unafraid. To Tammy, each bloom seemed to whisper a hymn of hope, a promise that light always returns after darkness.
Her childhood in Knoxville was filled with the grandeur of the Great Smoky Mountains, rivers that shimmered like ribbons of glass, trails scented with pine, and skies that stretched into forever. Though life’s journey led her away from those Tennessee hills, her heart forever beat in rhythm with their song. She carried that same spirit of wonder into her own adventures, whether camping beneath starlit canopies, casting a line into quiet waters, or sharing laughter on family road trips that seemed to chase the horizon itself.
Professionally, Tammy devoted her life to caring for others. With the gentle hands and compassionate heart of a healer, she worked as a Technician at Spires at Berry College. Her patients remembered not only her skill, but the light she brought into every room and a quiet reassurance that kindness still reigns in the world.
Services to celebrate Tammy’s life and legacy will be held at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will follow on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with Chaplain John Harris officiating. Pallbearers honoring Tammy on her final journey to rest at New Hope South Baptist Church will be Jason Reitz, Jimmy Spangler, Marvin Clay, Barry Rollins, Hank Rollins, and Bennie White; with Corey Phillips and Ronald Johns serving as honorary pallbearers.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements, ensuring that Tammy’s memory will be cherished with the same grace and dignity that she bestowed upon all who knew her.
