It is with great sadness that we announce that Teresa Harris, 63, of Cave Spring, Georgia, has lost her battle with cancer. She went home with Jesus, where joy abounds and illness is no more.
Teresa was born in Savannah, Georgia, on October 23, 1962, to Norma Willis-Dennis of Savannah, Georgia, and Ernest Thode Dennis of Marblehead, Massachusetts. She spent her early childhood in Salem and Saugus, Massachusetts, and then, at age 10, moved with her family back to Rincon, Georgia.
Teresa attended Maranatha Assembly of God while growing up, where she accepted Christ as a young girl. She later attended World Evangelism Bible College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with her sister. It was there that she met the love of her life, David Harris, and they were soon married in 1988.
David and Teresa moved back to the Rome, Georgia, area, where their union produced five children and eventually twelve grandchildren (one in utero). Teresa was a happy homemaker, a Reformed Baptist pastor’s wife, and a beloved “Mimi” to her grandchildren. She homeschooled all five of her children from kindergarten through high school. Shunning the limelight, she faithfully served behind the scenes and never sought applause. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and held firmly to the cross for salvation.
Her struggle with cancer began in 2018. She fought valiantly, believing it had gone into remission until it returned in 2023. Teresa is survived by her husband, David Harris Sr.; sons David (Sara) Harris Jr. of Rome, Georgia, and Jonathan (Evelina) Harris of Pordenone, Italy; daughters Elisabeth (Zach) Barton of Rome, Georgia, Hannah (Ben) Allen of Dallas, Georgia, and Abigail Harris of Cave Spring, Georgia; her mother-in-law, Nancy Garrard of Rome, Georgia; and her sister, Carol Dennis of Foley, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Dennis of Savannah, Georgia; her parents, Norma and Ernie Dennis; seven aunts; five uncles; and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Rome, Georgia. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 3:00 PM. Pastor David Harris Sr. will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be David Harris Jr., Jonathan Harris, Ben Allen, Zach Barton, Keith Tyler, and David Harris Sr.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
