Thomas Matula Obituary

In Loving Memory of Thomas Wayne Matula
December 9, 1965 – March 12, 2025

Thomas Wayne Matula, whose presence touched  the lives of everyone who knew him, took his gentle leave from this world at his home in Rome, Georgia, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Thomas lived passionately and simply, embracing each moment fully, finding his life's meaning  in the smallest detail. A respected professional, he served as Vice President of IT and Marketing at Randall Brothers Inc. LLC. His early years saw him in the disciplined uniform of a United States Army soldier, an experience which instilled within him an unwavering resolve and a dignity that carried through all of his days.

Yet, Thomas was defined more deeply by love, and  of simple joys and family. He enjoyed making homemade fishing lures and testing them out on the waters. He enjoyed RVing, boating and grilling out with family and friends. He also enjoyed designing and remodeling projects around the house. Thomas also took great joy in watching his beloved Ohio State football games each Saturday, especially in the company of his son.

Thomas found comfort and companionship in the unconditional love of his fur babies.

Yet, above all else, Thomas Matula was a man utterly captivated by faith. He carried his love for God openly. He would speak of his Savior to anyone who would listen.  From family and friends, to  doctor visits and hospital stays, and would always manage to find time to crack a joke. He was, as a friend aptly remarked, “a truly unique individual, impossible to forget once encountered.”

Thomas leaves behind an abundance of love through the hearts of his family: his cherished wife, Mary Matula; his daughters, Jessica Matula Cadena and Katelin Warner; his son, Thomas Wayne Matula II; and stepson, Michael Young (Amber). His four grandsons: Isaiah Cadena, Grayson Warner, Knox Young, and Nash Young.  He is also survived by his brothers, Larry Matula (Dee), and Gregory Matula (Tracy).

Thomas now joins those beloved family members who preceded him into eternity: his father, Larry Matula; his mother, Loretta Buis; and brother, Richard Matula

The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, friends consider honoring Thomas through a thoughtful donation to the American Cancer Society or the American Liver Foundation, ensuring that his legacy of compassion continues to touch lives beyond his own.

Revelation 21:4:
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
