Thomas (Tommy) Posey, Jr. Obituary

It is with a profound sense of sorrow and remembrance that we announce the passing of Thomas "Tommy" Newton Posey, Jr., aged 59, from Plainville, Georgia. Tommy left us on the serene morning of Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Born in Rome, Georgia, Tommy was the cherished son of the late Thomas Newton Posey, Sr. and Rosa Marie Edmondson.

Tommy, a soul defined by his love for his family, his unwavering faith, and his dedication to his craft, leaves behind an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him. Predeceased by his beloved parents, Thomas and Rosa Posey, his brother, Bobby Wayne Posey, and his sister, Shirley Ann Brackett and his niece Angie Scoggins and his nephew Jason Brackett, Tommy's memory is now a treasured legacy for those he leaves behind.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Geraldine Posey Towe (Frank), Tammy Moreno (Joe), Debbie Jackson (Paul), Donna Autry and her boyfriend Kenneth Shelley and his sister-in-law Linda; and his cherished great-nephew, Lamar House (Jennifer). His pet dog, Spider Monkey, was a source of joy and companionship in his life.

Thomas's life was a testament to his passions and values. His love for the church was evident, as was his commitment to living each day with a free spirit, embracing both the simplicities and grandeur of life. His career as a mechanic was not just a profession but a calling, where he found joy and purpose in working with cars.

A man of stories and memories, Thomas had the unique gift of transporting his listeners to different times and places, sharing tales that were funny, thrilling, or heart-touching. His love for motorcycles and his profound relationship with his mentor and brother-in-law Chester Martin, who passed in 2020, were significant chapters in his life story.

Above all, Thomas cherished his family, especially his nieces, Donna, Debbie and Tammy; Tommy and Tammy grew up like brother and sister, they are only 11 months apart and shared many memories together.  He also had a special bond with his great-nephew Lamar House, embodying the true spirit of kinship and love.

In honoring Thomas's own wishes, there will be no services held. His family, respecting his request, has entrusted the arrangements to Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home.

As we bid farewell to Thomas "Tommy" Newton Posey, Jr., we reflect on a life lived with authenticity, love, and an unshakeable faith. His journey on earth may have ended, but his story, his memories, and the love he shared continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched.
