Virginia Thompson Obituary

Virginia Sue Bishop Thompson, aged 87, of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, passed into eternal rest on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Born to Ertis and Opal Bishop on July 27, 1936, in Cherokee County, Alabama, Virginia's life was a beautiful intermingling of love, service, and song.

Her journey began in the heart of Alabama, where she was cradled in the warmth of a loving family. In the years that followed, Virginia's life blossomed with the same care and devotion she received as a child. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Bobby Gene Thompson, whose memory she cherished with unwavering love.

Virginia's legacy lives on through her daughter, Sherry Wear; her grandchild, Kane Wear (Chiyo); her adored great-grandson, Levi; and her brother, Lannie Bishop (Lynn). Her family reflects a facet of her vibrant spirit and loving heart.

Virginia's career was as diverse as it was impressive. She worked briefly for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, an experience that added depth to her character. Her melodious alto voice found a home with the Georgians Band, and her involvement with the Cheerful Givers highlighted her innate joy in giving and sharing.

The world of real estate knew her as a dedicated and skilled professional. At Charles Williams Real Estate Investment Corporation, she excelled in Luxury Rentals and served with distinction as the Chief Financial Officer. Her decision to retire and devote herself to caring for her husband was a demonstration of her deep sense of duty and love.

Despite her Alabama roots, Virginia relished being known as a “Georgia Girl.” This affectionate title encompassed her love for music, her family, and her faith. A dutiful daughter, a devoted wife, and a loving mother, Virginia's life was a reflection of her deep-rooted values and her unwavering faith in the Lord.
