In Loving Memory of Wanda Faye Worley Sissom
January 4, 1961 – November 28, 2025
Wanda Faye Worley Sissom was one of those rare souls who walk through this world with sunlight pooled beneath their footsteps, leaving warmth wherever they go. On Friday, November 28, 2025, at the age of sixty-four, Wanda laid down the burdens of this life and stepped into her eternal rest. She was born on January 4, 1961, to Bill Worley and Margarett Cromer, who welcomed her into a world that she would fill with laughter, generosity, and unfailing love.
Wanda’s life stretched wide with devotion, rooted in the fifty-year love story she shared with her beloved husband, John Sissom, Jr. Together they built a home that pulsed with family, comfort, and the sweet stirrings of everyday joy. She is survived by her children, Patrick Sissom (Tonya), Kelly Lewis (Jimmy), and Sheena Sisco (Jeremiah) who she loved more than her own heartbeat as they each were the heartbeat of her days, and carried each one close in a place beyond verbal depiction. Her grandchildren, Tyler Shirey (Chantell), Madison Sissom, Alyssa Sisco, Hayden Reese, Prestin Sissom, Bailey Sissom, Tabitha Lewis, Tailor Floyd, Gage Moses, Ava Moses, GiGi Baker, Devon Lewis, and Breanna Goforth, lit her world with the brightness only a Nana’s love can know.
Wanda’s joy only deepened as the next generations bloomed. Her great-grandchildren, Ace Holmes, Vera Shirey, Greyson Peoples, Alaina Sissom, Sophia Floyd, Vance Floyd, Lisa Jane Greshem, Elleann Barger, Denver Turner, Amelia Lewis, and Lily Stroupe were treasures she held close and lifted up in prayer and pride. She also leaves behind her sisters, Cindy Highfield and Shelia LeCroy, along with several nieces and nephews who she loved deeply.
Wanda now reunites with her parents, her grandchild, Taylor Shirey, and her sister, Tina Harbin, and each one of them is waiting with open arms in that eternally beautiful place we call heaven.
To know Wanda was to witness a life shaped by tenderness and a willingness to care for others. She moved through her days gathering people in. She gathered family, she gathered friends, and she gathered strangers. The strangers never remained that way for long, as Wanda counted them as friends seconds after meeting them.
Wanda loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a devotion as steady and wide as the Georgia sky. She poured her heart into cooking meals that brought folks together, shopping trips that sparked her joy, and the quiet, deliberate work of tending to those she loved.
Wanda’s yard was her sanctuary, a patch of earth she shaped with her own hands until it matched the welcome of her home. Flowers leaned into her touch. Trees seemed to stand a little taller when she passed by. Even her fur babies knew they were cherished and safe. Whatever love she had, she gave it away freely, and this world is softer because she walked in it.
Wanda never met a stranger. Her smile could ease a heavy heart, and her kindness stretched further than anyone could measure. For Wanda, family and friends weren’t simply part of life; they were the very reason for it.
