Wendell Joe Marks, age 80, of Chatsworth, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Rome, Georgia, on May 4, 1944, Wendell was the cherished son of the late Joe Carson Marks and the late Beatrice Bradfield Marks. A man of strong character and warm heart, Wendell lived a life full of devotion to his family, faith, and friends.
Wendell is survived by his beloved wife, Alline Marks, with whom he shared many wonderful years of love and companionship. He is also lovingly remembered by his sons, Jason Marks and Nathan Marks, both of whom were a source of great pride and joy in his life. His brother, Lowell Marks, Sr., and his sister, Gloria Noles, also survive him. In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Marks; his infant grandson, Eric Mark; and his sister, Janell Holtzclaw.
Wendell was a proud veteran of the United States Army Reserve, where he served his country with honor and dedication. His commitment to his fellow servicemen and his deep sense of patriotism were hallmarks of his character. Whether working on a new project in his workshop or sharing his artistic talents with friends and family, Wendell found joy in the act of creating. His hands were always busy, and his mind was always filled with new ideas for his next endeavor.
Wendell’s greatest joy, however, came from the relationships he built with those around him. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, always putting his loved ones first. Known for his lively sense of humor, Wendell could brighten any room with his jokes and stories, and he loved nothing more than making people laugh. His ability to connect with others was one of his most endearing qualities, and he was cherished for his warmth, kindness, and generosity.
A faithful man, Wendell was an active member of Solid Rock Church in Dalton, Georgia, where he formed many lasting friendships. His deep love for the Lord was evident in all that he did, and he lived his life as a testament to his faith. His church community was a source of strength and comfort, and Wendell was proud to serve alongside his fellow congregants.
