William Lamar Davis went home to Jesus on October 15, 2025, at age 71.
Lamar was born to William and Rita Davis on June 23, 1954, in Rome, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Kristin VanMeter.
Prior to his retirement, he used his gift of sales where he owned and operated a number of businesses through the years, including Lamar Davis Auto Sales, International Piano Company, and Furniture Factory/Outlet Company.
Lamar was ordained in 2016 and preached the word of God at several locations over time after retirement.
Lamar's number one love besides Jesus was his family. He always made sure his girls knew how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. He was always cheering his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on in all their sports and activities and making sure they all knew how much their Papa and Gramps loved them.
Lamar is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Carlock and her husband, Brian, and Kelli Gonzalez and her husband, Luis; son-in-law, Bruce VanMeter; grandchildren, Tristan Carlock, Seth Carlock, Christian Carlock, Jaylon Gonzalez (Kamyn Rhodes), Gabby Gonzalez, Cash Gonzalez, and Bruce A. VanMeter; great-grandchildren, Josiah Gonzalez, Juliana Gonzalez, and soon-to-be-born William Gonzalez.
A memorial service for Lamar's exceptional life will be held Saturday, October 25, from 12 until 2 PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with Alfred Little officiating.
Good Shepherd Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the arrangements.
