William (Bill) Roscoe DeLano, age 95, of Rome, Georgia, passed on December 31, 2025 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Mr. DeLano was born on October 28, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee to, William Roscoe and Anna Rose DeLano. He was preceded in death by his parents and an older sister, LuGene DeLano. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Elizabeth DeLano, as well as his son William (Billy) Roscoe DeLano Jr. and daughter Deborah Anne Parker.
After losing both of his parents at a very young age, he joined the Air Force at the age fifteen after fudging his birthday in order to enlist. He spent most of his teenage and young adult years working and traveling throughout the United States with the Air Force, Mr. DeLano returned to his home state of Arkansas where he met his late wife Mary. The two were wed and began a family while he attended the University of Arkansas. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering and remained a lifelong Razorback fan.
In 1963, Mr. DeLano moved to Rome, Georgia where he worked for General Electric Company designing transformers. He was a devoted family man who had the rare ability to listen and offer advice only when it was sought. Having experienced a lot of joys and hardships in his life, his advice and guidance were sought by all who knew him.
Mr. DeLano was an active member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church where he served many years as a deacon and the church treasurer. He was an avid golfer, bird watcher, and rare glass collector. His collection of Verre D’or glass is now featured at Golden Pioneer Museum in Golden, Missouri.
Mr. DeLano is survived by his daughter Elaine DeLano Turner of Rome, Georgia. Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Trenton Edward Parker and his wife Heather of Centre, Alabama, William Travis Parker and his wife Donna of Gloucester, Virginia, Mary Lindsey Turner of Rome, and Rebecca DuPree Faulkner and her husband Trent of Oneonta, Alabama. In addition, his great-granddaughters, Cadence Trinity Marr (husband Ellis and daughter Maggie), Harper and Hallie Faulkner survive.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 1:30 to 3:00pm at Good Shepherd Funeral Home with the funeral following at 3:00pm. Mr. DeLano will be laid to rest at Oaknoll Cemetery on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 2:00pm.
Honorary Pallbearers include his grandsons, Trent and Travis Parker, nephews Lance Sims, Beebe, Arkansas and Dustin Sims, Lakewood Ranch, Florida, Trent Faulkner, Oneonta, Alabama, and Ellis Marr of Summerville, Georgia.
