Willie Bell Whiteside of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born to Arthur Allan and Nancy Burk on January 15, 1930, in Roanoke, Alabama. 

Awaiting Willie Bell n heaven are her beloved parents, Arthur and Nancy, her cherished sons, Steven K. Prather, and Michael G. Prather. She is survived by her loving son, Norman W. Prather (Dorothy); her caring daughters, Teresa Hooper (Bob) and Angie Cook (Billy); and her doting grandchildren, Angel McCain (Ray) and Shawn Cook (Beth). Her legacy lives on through them, and the lessons she imparted will reverberate through the generations.

Known for her unwavering dedication as a mother, Willie Bell raised five children in a home that was as full of love as it was spotlessly maintained. Her nurturing spirit didn’t stop at home; it extended to her work at Floyd Medical Center, where she served loyally until her retirement. Those who had the privilege to work alongside her remember her not just as a colleague but as a beacon of encouragement. She had the rare ability to uplift everyone around her, serving her signature dishes with a side of heartfelt inspiration.

Her commitment to family, work, and community made her a well-respected figure, admired for her resilience, wisdom, and unwavering faith. Willie Bell will be profoundly missed, yet her memory will live on in all the lives she touched.

The family will receive friends at Good Shepherd Funeral Home on Saturday, October 28 from 12:00PM until funeral hour at 2:00PM with Chaplain Allan Fuller officiating.
